Archival Research
I have conducted extensive international archive research which has been facilitated by years of intensive language study in the Vietnamese, French, and Chinese languages. In Vietnam, I accessed National Archives Center II (Trung tâm Lưu trữ Quốc gia II) in Hồ Chí Minh City, which holds documents from the Republic of Vietnam; National Archives Center III (Trung tâm Lưu trữ Quốc gia III) in Hà Nội, which houses materials from the Democratic Republic of Vietnam; and National Archives Center IV (Trung tâm Lưu trữ Quốc gia IV) in Đà Lạt, which contains records related to the region of Central Vietnam. In France, I conducted research at Service historique de la Défense in Vincennes, which contains French military records, and the Archives nationales d’outre-mer in Aix-en-Provence, which houses colonial-era documents related to Vietnam and Indochina. In the U.S., I have worked extensively at the LBJ Presidential Archive, the Nixon Presidential Library, and the National Archives in College Park, Maryland. In the future, I will extend my research to archives from the Republic of China, such as Academia Historica (国史馆)and Academia Sinica (中央研究院) in Taiwan.
